Torii floating on the sea

Miyajima is an island located in Hiroshima Prefecture. This island in the Seto Inland Sea, is famous for its Itsukushima Shrine.

Itsukushima Shrine is famous for its large torii floating on the surface of the sea. This landscape is one of the "three most scenic spots in Japan". In general, the Japanese garden has a pond.Once upon a time, nobles were enjoying boating in the pond. Itsukushima Shrine has a sea instead of pond.

The Miyajima has several specialties in addition to the torii. One of them is "rice paddle". In Japan you can use this tool when you scoop the rice from the kettle. "Autumn leaves bun" is also typical souvenir. It is a bun in the shape of leaves. Recently, also autumn leaves buns fried in oil are popular.

There are many deer in Miyajima. Deer are tame to humans. However, if you are careless, they might get to eat the map.
